About a year and a quarter ago, through the amazing powers that is The Rising Tide Society, I connected with the amazing Minnesota based photographer, Laura. You see, her baby sister had just gotten engaged here in Arizona and while they were all SO excited, Laura being a photographer was also having a slight internal freak out that this special occasion would go undocumented!
So in the span of less than 24 hours her and I collaborated on a mini engagement shoot for her sister, Krystal, and her brand new fiancé, Justin! Laura really wanted to make this special for her sister, so she asked me to get them a little champagne to really mark the occasion. Being the overachiever and gift giver I am though, you know I had to step it up a notch. I found a local friendor of mine who does engraving and had some special champagne flutes engraved with the state outline and the date so they would always remember this truly special and life changing trip to our great state!
Now fast forward, Krystal and Justin are well on their way to planning their best day ever. I was so incredibly honored when they messaged me and asked if I would be willing to fly up to Minnesota and help capture their day!
I had never been to Minnesota before and man was it a treat to get away from this heat and feel what a midwest summer is like (ok, but let’s be real, it was a little humid for this AZ girl hah!).
Their ceremony was at the absolutely breathtaking Minnesota Arboretum. Tons of green, wildflowers growing in fields, willow trees. It was stunning! And they finished the night partying away at the Minnesota Golf Club for their reception.
I got to finally meet the rest of their family and friends at the rehearsal and dinner Friday night. I was overwhelmed by how welcoming and warm they were to me. I mean one of her bridesmaids, Logan, even came and picked me up from my hotel to take me to the getting ready spot. Her whole bridal party was so fun. We rode a party bus around to get some more photos and took it back to the reception and everyone was one big happy family, popping bottles of champagne!
All in all it was definitely an amazing trip and am so glad to have gotten to experience it! Here are some of my favorite photos of the day:
